Job Description

Beech Mountain Resort in Beech Mountain, NC is looking for one lead race timer to join our team. We are located at 1007 Beech Mountain Pkwy. Our ideal candidate is self-driven, ambitious, and engaged.

The head timer is responsible for running the timing software and sending the racers on the course. The head timer is in constant contact with the starter. They set up and tear down all timing equipment and the PA system. They operate the primary timer system during the race. This is a great job for somebody who does well under pressure and is detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Set up and breakdown of start and finish line equipment
• Data management for new participants registering on race day
• Producing and posting race results during and after the event
• Managing the flow of participants at the start and finish line
• Fielding questions from participants about the results

Qualifications

• Ability to problem-solve
• Ability to work in a time-sensitive environment
• Experience with EXCEL and basic computer skills
• Punctual
• Weekday nights and weekend mornings are required (race days/times can vary)
• Must have a driver's license and be comfortable driving in snow
• Four-wheel drive/AWD/chains required
• Ability to lift 20 pounds at a minimum and ideally up to 50 pounds
• Strong skiing skills are required; must be able to ski the entire mountain, top to bottom, proficiently.
• Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with racers, race officials, coaching staff, co-workers, and ski area guests.
• Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
• Knowledge of race procedures and regulations and experience in this field
• Experience on snow (ski/snowboard) and familiarity with race course setup
