Job Purpose:
Provide Business Intelligence insights to enhance strategic decisions as well as ensure SQL backend maintenance and integrity.
Job Summary:
The Junior Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for reporting, data requests, ETL development and database maintenance.
Duties: (Additional Duties May Be Added as Needed)
- Collaborate with key Buffini and Company stakeholders to determine reporting/data needs
- Gain deep understanding of Buffini’s data to create reports that will help drive business decisions
- MS SQL Query Composition (or equivalent querying language)
- Help improve query performance through indexing and refining query composition
- Develop Tableau Reports
- Develop and Deploy SSIS packages (ETL) to SQL Integration Services Catalog and create the respective SQL Job
- Troubleshooting SQL job failures
- Occasionally Develop SSRS Reports as well as troubleshoot existing SSRS reports
- Ensure data quality/integrity
- Knowledge of Google Analytics is a plus
- Ensure server backups meet the Recovery Point Objectives (RPO)
- Periodically test the backups
- Document “larger” changes such as ETL deployment that replaces legacy processes such as linked server jobs
Qualifications:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university, preferably in Computer Science, Statistics or related discipline
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience working with databases
- Query composition and refinement
- Table creation including constraints (primary and foreign keys)
- Understanding of data warehouse concepts (Star vs Snowflake schemas)
- Understanding of backup software and best practices
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience working with Excel
- Exposure to Business Intelligence visualization software such as SSRS, Tableau or Power BI
- Advanced problem-solving skills
- Ability to shift between large scale projects and ad-hoc requests
- Self-starter who takes pride in the ownership of robust software solutions that meet specific, well-understood business needs
- Experience working directly with internal clients, departmental managers, and executive leadership
- High degree of professionalism and strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong business acumen
- Basic understanding of relational database concepts and best practices
- Desire to constantly improve in various professional facets through assisted and unassisted means
- Ability to learn quickly and to creatively solve new problems.
- Ability to negotiate and settle differences quickly and peacefully.
- Ability to act as a team player.
Education and/or Experience
- 1+ year’s experience working with Microsoft SQL Server
- Experience with BI visualization software such as Tableau, Power BI or SSRS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- Experience with Salesforce and/or Marketo a plus
